RIE™ Parent Infant Guidance Classes

Led by RIE Associates and RIE trainees, the classes offer individualized attention to both parents and infants.

The RIE Center provides an infant-oriented environment that encourages babies to become attentive, active, exploring persons who are self-rewarded in the mastery of new tasks. RIE facilitators demonstrate the methodology while children are engaged in interactive exploration. Parents observe and discuss topics such as:

bulletWhat can parents realistically "expect" of their babies at any given stage of development;
bulletHow to establish healthy behavior patterns from the beginning of life;
bulletHow to set up an infant-oriented environment in the home;
bulletHow to synchronize babies' needs and parents' wants;
bulletWhen to intervene in the baby's activities, and even more importantly, when to leave him/her alone;
bulletHow to observe, understand, respect, and enjoy the individuality of each baby.

Classes take place in eight-week sessions and are limited to seven infants and their parents.

When possible, infants are grouped according to their stages of motor development.
